Interesting article on affordable housing in the Twin Cities – although I don’t agree with all of the assumptions made. To me, if someone is making $60,000+ a year, I don’t think they should be counted in affordable housing statistics. This article suggests the affordable housing situation in the Twin Cities is a mixed bag; for the richer, the situation is better. For the poorer, the situation is worse.
Also of note: San Francisco has a higher vacancy rate than the Twin Cities, yet in an extreme affordable housing crisis. Having a higher vacancy rate doesn’t necessarily correspond to a better housing climate.
